The Stakes Are High
Can you imagine making decisions with multi-billion dollar implications as the CEO of a large corporation? Can you imagine being an engineer and making design decisions as part of a bridge project that millions of people will depend on? How about leading a country and deciding when to go to war with your enemies. These situations are scary because the stakes are so high. Do you think you could handle being put in those positions?
We gain a lot of comfort in life by accepting that there isn’t much at stake. We feel good knowing that it doesn’t matter too much how we live. Just relax, we say, “It’s really not a big deal”. We can rest easy since the really significant roles are occupied by the big shots. The thing is the stakes are higher than you think. In fact, everything hangs in the balance and you have been placed there to handle it. Actually, the high stakes roles that intimidate you so much pale in comparison to what is at stake in your own life. It’s real. Step into the light and handle it. There are many watching… many pulling for you, but it’s up to you.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” – Hebrews 12:1
