I’m not sure there is anything more difficult than having to endure while the things you hope for go unfulfilled. It doesn’t take long before you find yourself trading those hopes in for something more immediate, something that will at least distract you from your painful longing. That seems to be the major difference between the great ones and the rest of us. The great ones never wavered. They were convinced that it was coming… perhaps just over the next hill, perhaps a bit further on… but it’s coming. When you know that, you can really live life. You have to know that.
