Do What the Father is Doing
“Jesus gave them this answer: Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” – John 5:19
The various systems you find yourself immersed in are problematic. The corporation you work for, the church you are involved with, the social structures that govern your circle of friends… there are many systems that each of us operate in. These systems are problematic because they offer you a safe next step for everything you do. The manual is already written. There is no such thing as a blank slate. You are rarely presented with the opportunity to decide what to do with the sovereignty that God gave you.
How could you ever look at God, realize what He is calling you to do, and then go do it? Is there even a context for that in your world? There isn’t in mine. When Jesus did that, the systems around him went into a frenzy and then killed him. He said we would do even greater things than he did. In other words the Father, through us, is up to much more. What would it look like if we let him do it?
