Bring Your True Self
“So you bring your true self to the work, your unadulterated effort, without negative self-talk and the sanding off of the interesting edges. Instead of compromise, you bring us vision.” – Seth Godin
That’s it. You either spend your effort modifying yourself (and your work) so that you get the response that you want (and avoid the one you dread), or you bring your true self to it. You can’t do both. You can’t be yourself and also give them what they want. You’ll just have to face the risk. Of course, you have to find a place where they are remotely interested in your work in the first place. Otherwise the game is already over. It’s a moot point. Chances are you haven’t found a place like that. You might have to make your own.
